  NAWBO-SF has long maintained that the payroll tax is a disincentive for expanding the workforce of San Francisco, and is an unfair burden, particularly on small businesses. Together with the Small Business Network, NAWBO-SF also opposed the Mayor's proposal to exempt the biotechnology industry from the tax. We believe it is unfair for small business to foot the bill for marketing San Francisco to new industry sectors. NAWBO Member Kim King was given the opportunity to speak with Mayor Newsom about this tax, and how it impacts businesses in San Francisco.
