President's Letter from Barbara Mark, Ph.D.

Dear Friends,

We are off and running for another year! I am pleased and honored to be your president. I am also pleased to have a great Board of Directors to guide and support the growth of the organization. Please feel free to contact any one of us with feedback and suggestions. Also, jump in and join the team by getting involved with a committee - it is a great way to support your business and have input into the way that NAWBO®-SF Bay Area supports you.

I am happy to announce that we are in the process of redesigning the NAWBO®-SF Bay Area website. You will be delighted with our new look and feel! The new site will have many membership enhancing features.
Watch this space!

I have been in Atlanta for several days at the Women's Business Enterprise National Council conference. It has been a wonderful experience and reinforces my belief that getting certified as a women owned business by WBENC is a great asset to women business owners at any level. NAWBO® will support our members getting certified with information and guidance.

I look forward to seeing each of you at our July Membership Appreciation dinner. Our wine maker will be Vanessa Robledo of Robledo Family Winery. Come and celebrate yourselves and allow us to celebrate you and your business!

And remember to celebrate yourself, your business, your family and your friends every day. Identify what you want and make it happen with conviction and joy.

See you soon!

Warm regards,
Barbara Mark, Ph.D.
President NAWBO®-SF

become President of her family’s winery and has recently struck out on her own
with a new consulting business, The Vineyard Worker’s Daughter.

Under Vanessa's stewardship, Robledo Family Winery grew from a tiny 100 case producer in 1997 to a healthy and thriving business producing 20,000 cases a year in 2007. The subject of dozens of feature stories and media appearances, Vanessa is an important voice in the wine industry. In a feature story in Sonoma Woman Magazine, author Rhoann Ponseti writes of Vanessa, “She is not only the American dream personified, she is reinventing that dream as she goes along, serving as a bridge over cultures, gender, wine industry, age and family
stereotypes.”
