Happy August to you. It was great to see so many of you at the July meeting. Heather Patz was fantastic and the wines were delightful.
Over the next few weeks you will be hearing from our Membership Chairs, M. Kay Robinson and Anna Scott. We are looking forward to having more contact with you and offering programs and activities that will give you opportunities to meet each other, network, skill build to grow and sustain your business and stay informed about issues relevant to small business.
We are also looking forward to more opportunities to network with other organizations. We have a mixer this month with the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to seeing you there!

August Meeting Topic: Effective Business Processes and Information Management, with Amy Lightholder of The Luminous Group.
At the age of 12, Amy Lightholder wrote her first program in BASIC on her father’s Commodore 64. Despite this promising start, she was working as a temporary clerical worker in 1997 when luck landed her a position as a customer service representative for Bank of America’s new “Home Banking” website. At her desk was a personal computer, equipped with a web browser. That was all it took. She joined the local chapter of Webgrrls (now SFWOW) which she credits for her break into the industry. She worked in IT for a number of companies both large and small before starting Luminous Group with a colleague in January of 2007. Luminous Group helps Bay Area companies run more efficiently and profitably by providing organizations with guidance, tools, and support tailored to aid teams in realizing their most important goals and requirements, which in turn illuminates the right technological choices and the support required to maintain them.
The San Francisco Relationships and Referrals Networking Breakfast is NAWBO-SF's newest venue for building business connections between local women business owners. Meetings are held at 7:30am on the third Wednesday of each month at Harvest & Rowe , 55 2nd Street in San Francisco. Bring business cards and come prepared to meet other women business owners, make friends, exchange ideas, share leads, lend support and recommend resources.
The cost, if you register by Monday, August 13, is $12 for members and $15 for non-members. After the 13th the price is $15 for members and $18 for non-members.

Selling our services and products often begins with success stories. Chip and Dan Heath’s book, "Make it Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die," states that memorable messages are the ones that people remember. So, developing simple, unexpected, concrete, credible, emotional stories that stick is the best way to increase the impression you make on others in order to improve the likelihood they’ll think of you first when they need a service or product you offer.
Come and join in a lively conversation about this topic - and bring your “stickiest stories” to share with the group. We’ll be eager to hear from anyone who wants to test their stories in a safe, supportive environment, and we’ll have an opportunity to develop and practice a few stories with each other. Bring a business colleague or another NAWBO member and join in this learning experience! We will not have a featured NAWBO member speaking at this meeting, so there will be even more time to enjoy networking.
